Do More With 1 Octave Double Bass Scales

Get the most out of learning scales!

This lesson is aimed at double bassists who want to go beyond one octave scales and arpeggios and use more of the fingerboard. Ultimately you will need to learn two octave scales, but there’s also ways you can play one octave scales that will help you prepare. This lesson will also help you to develop your technique as you can compare these new ways of playing scales and with the originals to see if your intonation is accurate.
Check out these two quick tips to see if they can help you.

In the video I also mention 'Double Bass Scales: The Play-Along Collection'. It’s contains everything you need to master scales on the double bass. There’s one and two octave versions of 17 scales types with detailed fingerings. There’s also backing tracks in two tempos for each scale and written guidance to give you everything you need to maximise your practice time.

I hope you enjoy the lesson and if you have any tips on learning scales, lesson requests or feedback, please join the conversation in the comments section below.
