Walking Bass Lesson: Don’t Always Start On The Root

In this lesson I teach you how to add variety to your bass lines by not always starting each bar with the root note. Mixing in this technique makes your playing sound a lot more engaging and melodic. It’s a skill that required a really solid understanding of arpeggios (aka chord tones), so make sure you are working on those in your practice routine.

The video features the excellent guitarist David Beebee who joined me the studio to provide some accompaniment.

I hope you enjoy the video and if you have any questions on the course or lesson please leave your feedback in the comments section below.
